YES. I checked with support. Unfortunately cloudways demanding advanced support subscription just for restricting ftp users to a specific folder.

I am wondering, actually, this is a standard feature with cpanel or plesk and child's play to create one in minutes.

When the service is offered as a managed server, this option is a must. Realy wondering why this is not achieved yet and really it is a bottle neck while prividing CMS services to our clients by having our hosting accounts with CLOUDWAYS.

I really just assumed that this was possible with Cloudways - I didn´t even check, because thats how basic I think this feature is. All the hosts I used before (even the really cheap ones) supported this.

I have an external party uploading xml files. I need to be able to access those files within the context of the application without them beeing able to modify all website files.

A really complicated "workaround" would be to create a second application on the same server and use a CRON job to somehow copy the files from one application to the other :/

To prevent specific FTP users from accessing the storage system, you can add them to the /etc/ftpusers file. To restrict FTP users to a specific directory, you can set the ftpd. dir. restriction option to on; otherwise, to let FTP users access the entire storage system, you can set the ftpd.

I've been waiting for CW to add this features for a while. I run into this issue all the time when running crons on the server and the root isn't writable.

I see that the Cloudways team has thought of almost everything, this is an important option that is needed to be able to give permissions to non-technical and external teams to certain folders without risk

By default, all users are allowed access to the default (non-virtual) FTP server. To deny access for specific users (other than anonymous), add the following entry: default server deny username

I need to give my whole company SFTP or FTP access to a folder on the server that we all use.
I only want them to have access to 1 specific folder.

So User would open their FTP application. enter the FTP address and log in. They would be taken to the only folder they have access to.

This is more than a suggestion. I need this.
