  1. PCRE version too low for PHP 7.0

    Hi there,

as you can read here: https://secure.php.net/manual/en/pcre.installation.php
with PHP 7.0.3 the minimum required version of PCRE is 8.38.

Your servers still use PCRE version 8.35. Dunno if I am the first who experiences this problem, but this leads to PHP sigfault crashes in my applications (TYPO3, Shopware) and they do not respond any more.

Any chance you're updating to PCRE 8.38 in the near future?

    Thanky a lot,
    Wolfgang

  2. Allow change of PHP opcache max_accelerated_files setting

I would like to change PHP setting opcache.maxacceleratedfiles. Its default value, 2000, if far smaller than number of files I need for my 3 apps - there's about 30000 php files that could be cached. This is very "low hanging fruit" for performance optimizations. Please add the option to change this php setting.

  3. automatic restart when server goes down

I think it's essential that the servers are fixed so that if they go down they automatically restart the server especially on digital ocean + vultr

A few times I've had the site receive a traffic spike out of the ordinary and it pulled my sites down until I manually rebooted it. It should be automatic.

  4. Provide newer version on Nginx

Please consider providing a newer stable version of Nginx.

New servers are still installed with 1.8.x which has bugs, most significantly this:

    https://trac.nginx.org/nginx/ticket/959

The bug causes major incompatibility between PrestaShop and Nginx when HTTP/2 is enabled. Ie. you can't add products to the shopping cart etc.

I understand that you don't wan't to be first mover on new version, but 1.8 is quite old by now.

  5. Allow SSH2 on your servers

I want to use a simple application that requires SSH2, and this is not compatible with your server configuration for some reason.

  7. Default UTF Encoding

Everything is pre-configured and installed as ASCII.

if I go in and change the default encoding, it is confusing. What if I want to upgrade to PHP& and MariaDB 10? In what order should the default encodings be changed? After upgrading to PHP 7?

The Server, MySQL and PHP all have separate encoding settings. It seems like changing these at the right time during initial configuration is vital.

So if you were installing Magento 2.1 on a GCloud server, how would you go about it?

After the server is created, should I go in and change the default encodings to…

  9. please add advanced/custom PHP configuration for the server, so I just type the config

Please add advanced/custom PHP configuration for the server, so I just type the config, so it will effect to all apps. At the moment I only able to see the custom/advanced setting for app. Not the server.

  10. Allow Server Master Credentials to access all MySQL databases.

Having a single user account that can access all the databases under a given server would simplify administration. The Server Master Credentials seems like a logical choice.

Currently I open an SSH tunnel for database access and it would be great if the same tunnel credentials could also connect to the databases.

  11. Load Data Local Infile enabled for MySQL

I run an e-commerce site that imports data feeds from our suppliers. However our import addon can't work as it requires Load Data Local Infile enabled for MySQL.

  12. Providing a Test Server

As with all hosting suppliers, Test servers are never charged for.

For every live server, you should allow the facility for a sandbox test server.

This will make it for anyone who has a live server to be able to test and roll out.

It should be free and will make your package for hosting a very STRONG offer.

Charging customers for a test server is not a good policy. You really need to review this and make it more attractive.

  13. Allow asynchronous logging via Loggly, Papertrail, or Splunk

Allow asynchronous (fast, non-blocking) logging via syslog daemon.

You don't even need to make it a 1-click installation for Loggly, Papertrail, or Splunk.

Just allow us to use the syslog daemon and then we can follow instructions at https://www.loggly.com/docs/php-logs/ or http://help.papertrailapp.com/kb/configuration/configuring-centralized-logging-from-php-apps/ or wherever.

Those instructions say they'd require root access (which Cloudways customers don't have), but it wouldn't require root access if you did the first steps for us.

    Thanks!

  15. Install Ghostscript

Just that, please install Ghostscript as it's a requirement for other tools such as GraphicsMagick and ImageMagick

    Thanks!

  16. Add more file types on database import

I found myself in a position where I had a huge table locally and wanted to import it on my database.

    CSV file ~30mb
    SQL file ~200mb

Unfortunately, we can only import tables from sql files. Would love to see different file types like CSV, JSON, XML

  17. Ask for a confirmation when "Removing" git repo from "Deployment via Git"

When removing Github repo from "Deployment via Git", please ask for a confirmation first. I clicked Remove button by accident, then had to set it up again.

  20. Exclude HTML from Nginx static cache

Currently HTML is included in the static cache of nginx.
This results in pushing an expires 30 days header on html content request and ignoring htaccess directives.

This is particulary dangerous, since there is no way to purge that cache unless the expiration on nginx is set to 0 for all assets.
